Celebration of Life for Cheryl Denise Avery

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life and legacy of Cheryl Denise Avery, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who transitioned peacefully into eternal rest at her home in Linwood, NC. Born on August 17, 1965, in McKeesport, PA, Cheryl was the cherished daughter of the late Maxine Fullenwider-Walker and Arthur C. Walker. On the day she was called home, Heaven gained a radiant soul, and we rejoice knowing she now rests safely in the arms of our Lord and Savior.

Cheryl's journey was one of faith, strength, and unwavering love. She attended Duquesne High School and later earned her GED, a testament to her determination and resilience. In 1996, she proudly completed the Certified Nursing Assistant program at Connelly Technical Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, stepping into a calling of service and compassion.

A devoted member of Dorsett Chapel Church in Spencer, NC, Cheryl's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She served joyfully in many roles as a Nursery volunteer, Greeter Leader, and a vibrant part of the Married Couples Ministry. Her presence was a blessing to all who worshipped alongside her, and her spirit of hospitality and encouragement uplifted many. Cheryl lived with a zest for life that was contagious. For over fifteen years, she served as a CNA with Bayada Home Health Care, where she ministered through her hands and heart, offering not just care, but love, dignity, and companionship to those in need. She also worked with Kellogg's Company, always bringing her light and laughter wherever she went. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and had a talent for assembling complicated puzzles (even intricate 3D ones), crafting, playing board games, and sharing laughter with family and friends. Her love for math and creativity shone through in everything she did. Cheryl's home was a haven of warmth, filled with love, laughter, and the aroma of cherished memories. She adored her grandchildren and shared a special bond with her loyal dog, Sheba.

Cheryl was a woman of strength, courage, and fierce love. She protected her family with a warrior's heart and celebrated them with a joyful spirit. She was bold, funny, and full of life and always ready to "throw hands" if needed, then turn around and dance like nothing happened. Her love was fierce, her faith unshakable, and her legacy everlasting.

She was preceded in glory by her parents, Maxine Fullenwider-Walker and Arthur C. Walker, her beloved son Linvard Walker, and her precious grandson Avion Dingle.

She leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of those who remain: her devoted husband Charles Avery of Linwood, NC; her daughters Uraszia "Zsa-Zsa" Walker (Ray Carter) of McKeesport, PA, Amber Tirera (Mohamed Tirera) of Charlotte, NC, Tamara Patterson of Lexington, KY, and Aliyah Patterson of Charlotte, NC; her children Charles C. Avery, Jr., Caleb A. Avery, Joshua Avery, Dionta'e Avery, and Kayla E. Avery. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Raymere and Nalaya Carter, Armani Dingle, Amina Tirera, Alese Jackson, and Berkeley Barnes; her sisters Valetta "Tina" Walker, LaDonna Walker, and Kyra "Ke-Ke Walker" Faust; five nieces, five nephews, one great-niece, and five great-nephews. Cheryl's life was also enriched by the love of extended family and dear friends, including former brother-in-law Troy Elkins, best friends Telese Wright and Christopher James, and a host of family and friends who were touched by her kindness, humor, and faith.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we rejoice in knowing that Cheryl has received her heavenly reward. Her life was a testimony of God's grace, and her memory will forever be a light that guides and inspires us.
