Obituary

Dewitt Thomas Turner, 77, of Spencer was born to the late William Turner and Macey Debouy on December 27, 1943 in Rowan County and departed his earthly life on Monday, September 27, 2021.   Turner was a graduate of Dunbar High School, he served in the U.S. Army and was a faithful member of Southern City A.M.E. Zion Church, where he served on the Steward Board and Choir. He was a barber at Ted's Barber Shop and later worked for N.C. Finishing Company.   He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Pal Turner.   He leaves memories to his brothers; Olin Turner, James Turner, both of Salisbury, sister; Willow Huggins, Washington, D.C., sister-in-laws, Mammie Teasley, Virginia Miller, Veda Kesler, brother-in-laws, Jimmy (Betty) Hailey, Ricky (Fran) Hailey, a host of other relatives, and friends.   Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 5, at 3:00 p.m. at Southern City A.M.E. Zion Church; burial will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 6, at 9:00 a.m. Public viewing Monday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Rowan Funeral Services is assisting the Turner family.
