Dr. Colin Pillay, 68, passed away November 2, 2022, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Colin Pillay was born in 1954 to the late Soobiah Pillay and Evelyn nee Frank in Durban, South Africa. In 2010, Dr. Pillay joined the faculty of Livingstone College in North Carolina in business and economics and elevated the Division of Business on many levels. Under the leadership of the tenured professor, Livingstone College students achieved top ten rankings in the CAPSTONE Business Strategy Game among 2,000 international competitors. He developed the first entrepreneurship course at Livingstone College and created the college's minor in entrepreneurship. Moreover, Professor Pillay assisted in the initiation of the college's study abroad program by leading the first team of students to India, and he led the college's honors students in Phi Beta Lambda International Business Honor Society. Dr. Pillay's contribution to the academy inspired many. He is survived by sister Merle Pillay in Canada; aunts Rachel Frank, and Patricia Nadas, and numerous cousins in South Africa.
