Frances Ann
Williams
Feb 9, 1940 — Aug 8, 2026
Frances Ann Williams entered this life on 9 February 1940 and departed into the arms
of her Master on 8 August 2026.
Frances was the daughter of the late Robert Isaac Williams Sr. and the late Queenie
Louise Logan Williams. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was the only girl among
three siblings and the middle child. Her brothers were the late Robert Isaac Williams
Jr. and Rev. William James Williams.
Her father served in the United States Army and was later stationed at the Army base
in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It was there that Frances prospered in the Cheyenne school
system. She sang in various choirs and was a member of the track team. Frances also
helped raise her younger brother, William. In those days, wherever Frances went,
William went too. What a pair!
Throughout the years, their bond remained firmly connected-mentally, physically,
and spiritually. Their love for one another was unbreakable. William remained by his
sister's side throughout her life and was with her until God called her home.
After graduating from high school, Frances attended Denver Business College in
Denver, Colorado, where she studied for two years. While living in Denver, she met and
married Henry H. Henley, they were later divorced, who preceded her in death and
was also a member of the United States Army.
In 1963, Frances and Henry moved to Camden, New Jersey. During their union, they
were blessed with five children: Keith, Mark, Hope, William, and Cassandra (Cassie).
Frances possessed a strong work ethic, a quality she instilled deeply in her children.
She emphasized the importance of education and was very active in the
Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). She later became an employee of the Camden
School Board, where she faithfully served for 25 years before retiring.
Throughout her working years, Frances also worked for the United States Postal
Service, Sears Roebuck, and Monsanto Chemical Company, where she served for
several years as an Accounts Secretary before retiring.
After retiring from the Camden School Board, Frances moved to North Carolina with
her daughter, Cassandra (Cassie), and her husband, Curtis Farmer.
Frances A. Williams was a faithful member of First Nazarene Baptist Church in
Camden, New Jersey, for more than 50 years. During her years of faithful service, she
served under the leadership of Pastor Etheridge Williamson Sr. and Bishop J. A. Jones.
She served faithfully on various auxiliaries and was a woman whose life reflected her
love for God and His people.
Frances was blessed with a beautiful musical gift. She sang tenor with The
Inspirational Choir, under the direction of Wanda Taylor Riddick. The choir traveled
extensively with Pastor Jones and made history as the first gospel choir to sing in
Barbados. Frances remained a dedicated member of the choir until her retirement and
move to North Carolina.
Although she was musically gifted, Frances' greatest gift was her love for God's people.
She became President of the Missionary Board, where she developed and organized
several programs designed to care for seniors and single-parent families.
During Thanksgiving, Frances helped provide food for families in need. At Christmas,
she organized a Christmas Toy Drive for struggling families. Her love for seniors led
her to create the Shoebox Drive, a special ministry that brought joy to residents of
local senior convalescent homes.
Her shoeboxes were carefully filled with items of need, along with a miniature
Christmas tree. These gifts brought tremendous joy to the seniors she served. But to
Frances, they were more than recipients-they were her seniors. She wanted them to
know that they were under her care, and those who served alongside her understood
the depth of commitment she had to their well-being.
Frances was also an active and faithful participant in the Lott Carey Foreign Mission
Bureau. She attended the Annual Session faithfully every year until her death. For
more than 20 years, this annual gathering became her special vacation and an
important part of her life and ministry.
A Woman Who Loved to Travel
Frances also had a great love for traveling. First Nazarene created a traveling club,
giving her the opportunity to see and experience different parts of the world. Royal
Caribbean became one of her favorite companions!
Before her passing, Frances had achieved Diamond Membership and encouraged her
family to travel with her. And let me tell you-traveling with Mom was a good thing!
She believed that life was meant to be experienced, shared, and enjoyed. Her
adventurous spirit created memories that her family will cherish forever.
God is good!
Her Ministry of Service
When Mom wasn't singing or serving in ministry, she faithfully served as the church
secretary. Every Sunday morning, she greeted the congregation with the words that
became her signature declaration:
"God is Good! God is Good! God is Good! All the Time, God is Good!"
Those words were more than a greeting-they were a reflection of how Frances lived
her life. She believed in the goodness of God, even through life's challenges.
She encouraged countless people and brought joy to those who gathered each Sunday
morning, preparing their hearts to receive the powerful Word of God through Pastor
Jones.
A True Prayer Warrior
Above all, Frances was a true Prayer Warrior.
Prayer was an essential part of her ministry and her relationship with God. She
faithfully led the prayer ministry at First Nazarene Baptist Church. Through her
devotion to prayer, she touched countless lives.
Her faith and prayers brought comfort to broken hearts, encouragement to weary
souls, strength to families, and hope to those who needed it most. Her relationship
with God was evident in the way she served, loved, encouraged, and prayed for others.
When Frances became a member of Lott Carey, she immediately became active in
their prayer ministry and Women in Service. Prayer was not simply something she
did-it was her calling.
And God honored her faithfulness.
After settling in Salisbury, North Carolina, Frances became a member of Jerusalem
Baptist Church in Spencer, North Carolina, under the leadership of her pastor, Dr.
David Bracken. Although her health prevented her from being as active as she once
was, it never diminished her prayer life. Frances continued to pray, trust God, and
remain committed to the work of Foreign Missions, representing the church through
Lott Carey.
Frances leaves behind a loving family who will deeply miss every aspect of her
presence. She leaves to cherish her memory with her brother; Rev. William J.
Williams(Camille); her children: Keith H. Henley, Mark W. Henley(Sheila) Hope R.
Henley William S. Henley, and Cassandra Farmer(Curtis)
Frances Ann Williams lived a life of faith, family, hard work, love, and service. Her
legacy will live on through the lives of her children, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, cousins, a host of nieces and nephews, family, friends, and all
those who were touched by her presence.
She poured herself into others and never hesitated to serve wherever she was needed.
Her earthly journey has come to an end, but her ministry has not.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, church family, and all those whose
lives she touched. Yet her legacy will continue through the many people she
encouraged, the families she helped, the seniors she loved, the ministries she
strengthened, the prayers she prayed, and the memories she created.
Her voice may no longer be heard singing tenor, greeting the congregation, or
declaring, "God is Good!"-but the words she lived by will continue to echo in the
hearts of everyone who knew her:
God is Good!
God is Good!
God is Good!
All the Time, God is Good!
Rest well, Mom. Your work on earth is finished, but your legacy of love, faith, service,
and prayer will live on forever. Love you Mom, you are our Honey Lamby Poo Poo
