Gene Steele 84, was born to the late Wilmington Steele and Mary H. Steele on October 2, 1939 in Rowan County departed his Earthly Life on June 16,2024 at Compass Rehabilitation in Spencer ,NC.

He was a graduate of R.A. Clement High School and retired as Welder with Martin Marietta.

A man of few words that remained in his own Lane.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Wilmington Steele, Mary H. Steele , brothers; Rev. William Steele, June Steele, and Paul Steele.

He is survived by his wife Carol Chambers Steele, sons; Gene Steele, Jr.(Theda Steele), Ricky Warren Steele, Larry Donnell Steele, daughters; Cynthia Diane Lee, Betty (James Oscar) Chunn, Shelia Elizabeth Steele, eighteen grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren, great- great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial Service Saturday June 22, at 1:00 p.m. at Rowan Funeral Services Chapel.
