Jesse Lamar Blackwell, 71, affectionately known as "Mack," passed away peacefully on January 31, 2021, at W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Hospice Center, after a long fight with dementia. He was born on June 4, 1949, to the late Samuel E. Blackwell, Sr., and wife, the late Beatrice Hall Blackwell, in Rowan County. Mack was educated in the Rowan-Salisbury School System. He was a 1967 graduate of Dunbar High School in East Spencer, North Carolina. After years of dedicated service, Mack retired from W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina. He was an honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He attended Macedonia Baptist Church in Salisbury, North Carolina. Before Mack's health declined, he loved to go fishing. He kept an immaculate home and was an avid lover of old-school music. Gardening was also a passion of his. Most of all, Mack loved his family. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. He is predeceased by his parents: Samuel and Beatrice; brothers: Samuel E. Blackwell, Jr., and William "Bill" Blackwell. Those left to cherish Mack's memories include one daughter: Jasmine (Corday) Washington, of Durham , North Carolina; one brother: Frank R. Blackwell, Sr., of Salisbury, North Carolina; two sisters: Faye B. Jefferies of Salisbury, North Carolina, and Barbara Joyce Blackwell of Salisbury, North Carolina; nephews; nieces; cousins; and a host of other relatives an
