Mrs. Jessie Lee Sloan Childers 97,made her Heavenly transition  on Wednesday November 6, 2024 was born to the late Reverend William Lonnie Sloan and Jessie Partee Sloan on January 20,1927 in Rowan County.

Mrs. Childers was educated in the Rowan-Salisbury School System, employed as a seamstress at Carter Industries. She has been a lifelong member of First Calvary Baptist Church where she served on the Trustee Board, Choir, Missionary Board and Kitchen Committee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; John David Childers, son; Christopher Childers, daughter-in-love Rena Childers, grandson; Ricky Childers, siblings; David Sloan, Thomas Sloan, William Sloan, Virginia Lockett, Dorothy Mitchell and Marian Hairston.

She leaves precious memories to her son; William Lonnie Childers, daughter; Gloria Childers Thompson(Ben), four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two nephews ,a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services November 15, 1:00 p.m. First Calvary Baptist Church, Eulogist Rev Dr. Leamon Brown, burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Public viewing Thursday 11:00 - 5:00 p.m.
