John Louis Ijames, 64, of Salisbury, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born on March 28, 1962.

John was born to his biological mother, Alice Davidson, and was lovingly adopted and raised by John and Ed Louise Ijames in Mocksville, North Carolina, where he spent his childhood and early adult years. He dedicated many years of service to the Salisbury Post, from which he later retired. John built a life centered around love, family, and friendship. He was married to Cheryl Murray, and together they made their home in Salisbury, North Carolina. Their union was blessed with a son, Jonathan Murray. John also lovingly helped raise his stepdaughter, Naticha Murray, and cherished his role as a step-grandfather to TyQuan Redmon.

Affectionately known as "Blade," John was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved playing Spades, enjoying crablegs, and taking trips to the beach. More than anything, he treasured bringing people together—family and friends alike—to laugh, talk, eat, and create lasting memories.

He held a special bond with his favorite cousins, Marvel Perkins and Donald Matthews, and his favorite nephews, Carlos Farris and Earnest Cain. John also shared meaningful friendships with Darlene Jackson, LaTreika Richardson, Sharon Logan, Chandler Reese and Jordan Reese.
