Obituary

Mr. Lee Henry Gray of Salisbury, NC passed away on October 27, 2025 at the Glenn Kiser Hospice House surrounded by his loved ones. Lee was born April 2, 1950 in Columbia, SC to Genover Parker Gray and the late Willie Gray. Lee was reared in the home of the late Reverend John and Iva Lou Gray.


Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his father, Wille Gray, his brothers, Willie Gray, John Gray, Allen Gray, and Alexander Gray, and his sister, Janie Rumph.


Lee is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Mrs. Mary P. Gray, his mother, Genover P. Gray, daugher, Diane P. Gilmore, two grand-daughters, Alyssa Gilmore and Amber Gilmore, a great-grandaughter, Skylar Gilmore. Brothers, Sylvester Gray and Robert Gray of Columbia, SC and Bennie (Claire) Gray of Charlotte, NC and a sister, Martha Gray of Winston Salem, NC, special in-laws Willie Phillips, Carol Phillips and Leonard (Carolyn) Phillips and special neice, Tamika Phillips and special nephew, Gerald Phillips and a host of neices, nephews, cousins and friends,


He enjoyed working with flowers and outdoor yard work. His later years were dedicated to spending time with his family.


Mr.Gray was previuosly employed at Rowan County Health Department, Cannon Mills, Cone Mills, Salisbury Mall, Inc. and retired from Parkdale Mills. He was a former member of Gray's Chapel FBH Church and later joined with Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member for many years and served as a member of the Men's Choir, Usher Board and Church Sexton.


Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 1:30pm at Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Visitaion will be from 1:00pm-1:30pm at Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial at Rowan Memorial Park. Public Viewing Friday, November 7th from 11:00am-4:00pm at Rowan Funeral Home.


The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Amin and staff, Novant Health Hospice Care staff and the staff at Glenn A. Kizer Hospice House.
