Leon Wendell Holmes passed away peacefully on July 30,2026 at the age of 77 following a brief illness.Leon was born to the late Pansy Holmes Woods and Evernee " Dank" Woods on May 6,1949 in Davidson County.
A 1967 graduate of Dunbar High School and went on to serve his country by enlisting in the US Army, before relocating to Atlanta, GA he was a member of Lexington Deliverance Tabernacle.
Leon enjoyed working on home improvement projects, meeting new people and sharing with family and friends. He will be remembered by his warm heart, infectious laughter, and enduring spirit that was touched by everyone that knew him.
He leaves cherish memories to his loving daughters; Gina Holmes, Dionne Holmes, Fayetteville, GA, Colette(Curtis)McLaughlin, Kernersville,NC, Kim (Bishop Greg)Hargrave, Burlington,NC, sons; Marc(Yaa)Carson, Jonesboro, GA, Kelvin(Willana)Carson, High Point,NC, sister; Nikita Woods Sturgis, Stone Mountain,GA, brothers; Jimmy Holmes,Stone Mountain,GA, Evernee (Lisa)Woods, Lexington,NC, sixteen grandchildren,seveteen great-grandchildren, special nephews; Evan Woods, Rahji Sturgis,two great-nieces; one great nephew,signiicant other; Christal Coleman, Riverdale,GA, Anthony Jake Vinson, Ellenwood,GA , along with aa host of aunts, cousins, extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Family Services: Saturday August 8,at 1:00 p.m. New Smith Grove Baptist Church,burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will recieve friends one hour prior to service.
