Obituary

Martha Ann Ingram Wilkins, affectionately known as Ma Sue, was born on June 14, 1954, to the late Annie Ruth Ingram and William Ingram. She passed away on January 27, 2026, at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

Martha was educated in the Rowan-Salisbury School System and devoted much of her life to caring for others. She worked for many years at the Brian Center of Salisbury and the VA Medical Center, demonstrating compassion, dedication, and a deep commitment to serving others.

Martha enjoyed bowling and was an active member of bowling leagues. She also loved playing bingo and spending time with family and friends. Her radiant warmth touched every life she encountered. She was simply loved by everyone who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.  Known by many as the "neighborhood mom," Ma Sue welcomed everyone into her home with a smile and made them feel like family.

Those who will forever treasure her memory include her loving husband, Phillip Wilkins; her daughter, Teela Wilkins; her sons, Marlon Wilkins, Thaddeus Wilkins, and Derrick Wilkins; and her stepson, Gilbert Hailey, all of Salisbury, NC. She is also survived by her siblings: Willie Mae Ingram of Charlotte, NC; Claudette Ingram Smith of Hyattsville, MD; Rosetta Ingram Sampson of Clinton, NC; and Mary Ingram Phillips of Charlotte, NC; along with a special aunt, Martha Walker Brown of Charlotte, NC. In addition, Martha leaves behind five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Martha's life was a reflection of love, service, and generosity.

Red was Ma Sue's favorite color, therefore the family requests that family and friends wear red, white or a combination of both colors in her honor.
