Mary "MaResa" Theresa Ford Dukes, 86 of Salisbury, departed from this earthly life on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, at Liberty Common Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Salisbury. She was born to the late Samuel Lonnie and Carolyn Rebecca Kirk Ford on Jan. 1, 1936, in Amityville, N.Y. She was a 1954 graduate of Dunbar High School and attended Livingstone College, retiring from the Rowan- Salisbury Community Council Service Head Start Program. She was a lifelong member of New Hope A. M. E. Zion Church where she served as a Class Leader-Emeritus, Sr. Choir, and a member of the Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Angela McDaniel. She leaves precious memories to her son, Rev. James Milton, Spencer; daughter, Debra Simmons, Salisbury; grandchildren, Rhea Milton, Deresha Simmons, Leah Murdock; great-grandchildren, Deshad Simmons, Quatoria Blakeney(Jardale), Zion Milton, Terrance Milton, Jionna Blakeney, Sage Murdock; brother, Robert Ford, California, Willie Perry, Jr., Texas; sister, Carolyn Bolden(George), Durham; and a host of other relatives and friends. Arrangements: Funeral services Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 12 p.m. at New Hope A.M. E. Zion Church, burial will follow in the church cemetery, the family will receive friends Monday 4-6 p.m. Public viewing Monday 11 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Rowan Funeral Services is assisting the Dukes/Milton family.
