Mary Becky Ruth
Leverette
Dec 16, 1952 — Mar 7, 2025
Lexington
On Friday, March 7, 2025 the good Lord, called another faithful servant home. Mrs. Mary Becky Ruth "Shirley" (Hairston) Leverette, transitioned peacefully, from Atrium Health High Point Regional Hospital, into eternal rest. She was surrounded by love.
Ms Shirley was born in Lexington, NC on December 16, 1952, to the late Harry Hairston and Viola Gable Hairston. They had her very late in life. This would account, as to why, she was so sagacious.
Ms Shirley graduated in 1971, from one of the largest classes on record. Despite her dream of going off to Nursing School, she sacrificed it all to build a family with her beloved husband, Larry, whom she adored until the end. They shared two wonderful children, Orlando "Lando" and Lekisa "Kisa," her pride and joys. Ms Shirley was highly intelligent and put hard work into everything she did. She became a supervisor at Mannington Tile, formerly Mid State Tile, for 23 years, until the plant closed it's doors in 1999. After taking a few months off to do full-time missionary work, Ms Shirley entered back into the workforce and became employed with Olon, formerly Carolina Drawers. There, she served 22 years, as a machine operator, before retiring in 2021.
There are many great words to describe Ms Shirley. Strong, resilient, hardworking and kind-hearted, are only just a few. Being the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman, she always held her family down even through the toughest storms, while still offering a helping hand to others when needed. Many, will forever be impacted by Ms Shirley's wisdom and advice. She spoke her mind, but in a funny, kind and constructive way.
Ms Shirley formerly attended Now Faith Church, where she was a faithful and dedicated member. In her spare time, she enjoyed being in the company of family and friends, especially to break bread. Even if, it was just a Whopper sandwich and a Dr. Pepper, she was completely satisfied. Ms Shirley love to watch her favorite tv programs, play word/card games, assist others with transportation, and visit the sick and shut-in. Some of the theses hobbies, became extremely difficult during her last years of life.
Ms Shirley is preceded in death by her parents. One brother, James Hairston. One Bonus brother, William "Roy" Hairston. One Bonus grandson, Christopher Salley. A Brother-in-law, Russell Leverette and Sister-in-law, Mary Leverette.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 53 years, Larry B Leverette, Son; Orlando (Keletha) Leverette, Daughter; Lekisa (Allen) Leverette, two Grandchildren; Corderius Leverette and Travion Leverette, six Bonus Grandchildren; Porshe Salley, Christy Salley, Johnell McCray, Ciera Palmer, Keyon Smith, Keyona Smith & a host of Bonus Great grands, Brother-in-law; Chester Leverette and Sister-in-law; Shelma (George) Washington, two Special nephews; Alvin Hoover, Jr. and Donald Hoover, two Special nieces; Octavia Siler and Monica Hairston, Godmother; Mildred Cross, Godsisters; Kathy Hargrave, Gloria Hairston and Linda Pringle, Best Friends; Alvin Sr. & Betty Hoover, Devoted friends; Fannie Yarborough, Shirley Leverett & Glenda Hairston Medley. And a vast number of other family and dear friends.
Ms Shirley will be deeply missed, especially her beautiful smile. However, she is surely resting, in the presence of the Lord. She's been delivered from this earthly realm. HALLELUJAH!! AMEN!!!
We're going to miss you, Ms Shirley. But until we meet again, rest easy. We love you dearly!!!!!!
