Obituary

Nelvin Wilks, 72, of Salisbury, NC passed away on March 27,2026 in Statesville, North Carolina was born on August 2,1953 in Salisbury, North Carolina to Carrie Mae Caple(Wilks) and Nelvin Wilks,Sr.


A proud graduate of JC Price High School in Salisbury in 1971. Nelvin went on to serve his country with distinction in the United States Army for twenty years. His military career included deployments to Afghanistan and other regions, showcasing his unwavering dedication to duty. Following his honorable retirement from the Army, Nelvin transitioned to civilian life and worked with General Electric Corporation until his final retirement.


Nelvin was a man of faith and an active member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He served faithfully on the Trustee Board and sang with Men's Gospel Choir leaving a lasting impact on his church community through his devotion and service.


An avid motorcyclist, Nelvin found joy and camaraderie ridiing with his biker family. The Bad Boys and Kitty Kats.


He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Samuel Lee Young and Fred Lee Young.


He is survived by sons; Nelvin Wilks, II, Dustin Wilks, granddaughter; Ziya Wilks, brothers; Odell Cox(China), William Frank Young(Sylvia), sister in-law; Bettina Young, devoted cousin/caregiver: Sonya Bostic(Rhondell), nieces,nephews, cousins, friends and members of his biker family. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.


Funeral Service: Thursday April 9, at 1:00 p.m. Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Family Visitation: 12:00-1:00 p.m. Burial Salisbury National Cemetery 2:30 pm.
