Mrs. Rena Robinson Childers, 65, of Salisbury was born to the late George Robinson and Wyvonia Housh Robinson in Davidson County on May 14, 1956. She departed this earthly life on September 14, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family. Rena graduated from Salisbury High School and Appalachian State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a Computer Support Specialist at Duke Energy. She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a former member of First Calvary Baptist Church, president of the Church Women United, member of the Women's Baptist Home and Foreign Missionary Convention, and member of the Salisbury-Rowan Missionary Union. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader, NAACP member, and president of the China Grove Parent Teacher Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Mary Frances Robinson, a brother; David Van Johnson, and her son, Ricky Childers. Cherished memories are left to her husband of 47 years, Christopher Childers, son Darryl Childers (Trenita), daughter; Cherese Childers-McKeee (Damon), brothers; Chester Robinson (Bonita), Albert Johnson (Cynthia), sisters; Georgia Gillespie, Arleen Wells (Terrance), Frances Campbell (Donald), 6 grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 22, 1:00 pm at Rowan Funeral Service Chapel; burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. There will be no public viewing.
