Richard "Tony" Anthony Cowan 70, passed away on May 19, 2022, in Oxen Hill, MD., was born to the late Joe Dickey Cowan, Sr. and Gretchen Dixon Cowan on Dec. 21, 1951 in Rowan County. Richard graduated from Salisbury High School and enlisted in the Air Force. Upon his discharge, Richard worked for the United States Government in zoology retiring after forty-two years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Dickey Cowan Jr.; and mother-in-law, Mildred Woodland. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife, Brenda Cowan; daughter, Nicole Cowan; sons, Richard Cowan Jr., Nicholas Cowan, Javon Cowan, Brian Chadwick (Tonique), and Michael Antonio McGorda, Sr.; brother-in-law, Gregory C. Woodland; and a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Arrangements: Service will be Friday, June 3, at 11 a.m., visitation at 10 a.m., and burial will be at 1 p.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery 501 Statesville Blvd. Rev. Calvin Cowan officiating. Rowan Funeral Services is assisting the family.
