Ruby Delois Archie, 75, of Bronx, New York, passed away on July 5, 2026, at 11:35 p.m. Born in East Spencer, North Carolina, on October 19, 1950, Ruby was the beloved daughter of the late Melvin and Thelma Archie. She carried the strength, warmth, and resilience of her Southern roots with her throughout her life.

Ruby made the Bronx her home for many years, becoming a steady presence in her community and a source of comfort, laughter, and wisdom to everyone who knew her. She was known for her kindness, her honesty, and the quiet grace she brought into every room. Ruby had a way of making people feel welcomed and cared for, no matter what they were facing.

Education was one of Ruby's greatest accomplishments. She earned her undergraduate degree from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Education on May 14, 1972. She later continued her studies in New York, earning her Master of Science in Education from Hunter College of The City University of New York on January 15, 1977. Her dedication to learning reflected her belief in growth, opportunity, and the power of education to change lives.

Ruby loved children deeply. She spent the majority of her career teaching and caring for them, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives. Her commitment to early childhood education was recognized when she was presented an award for her many years of dedicated service to the children of The James Varig Daycare and the Harlem community by the R&W Productions Group founder and assistant coordinators. Her work was not just a profession — it was her calling, and she fulfilled it with compassion, patience, and unwavering devotion.

Ruby's love for children extended far beyond the classroom. She was a generous donor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, supporting their mission to care for and heal children facing life‑threatening illnesses. Giving to St. Jude's was another way Ruby lived out her passion for helping children and making a difference in their lives.

Ruby was preceded in death by her siblings: Cleveland Archie, Melvin Archie, Anita Clark, Juanita Archie, Kent Archie, Olivia Archie, Brenda Archie, James Archie, Pauline Hargrave, Barbara Avant, and Herbert Archie.

She is survived by her nieces:  Susan H. Glover (Ronnie), Salisbury, NC  Robin B. Jones (Joseph) , Salisbury, NC  Yvette H. Bates (Timothy), Statesville, NC,  nephews: Darryl Brown, Salisbury,NC , Steven Archie, Charlotte, NC,Kevin Hargrave, Freeport, Florida, Brian Hargrave ,Salisbury, NC ,Jeffrey Hargrave, Manhattan, NY, Michael Hargrave, Salisbury, NC  Cameron Brawley, Salisbury, NC, a host of great and great‑great nieces and nephews who will continue to carry her memory forward.

A celebration of Ruby's life will be held on Friday, July 17th, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. and continuing until 12:30 p.m. immediately followed by the funeral service at Rowan Funeral Service, located at 1709 N. Long Street Salisbury, NC 28144. Rev. Timothy L. Bates, be the Eulogist.

Ruby cherished her yearly Christmas visits with her family, a tradition filled with joy, laughter, and love. Christmas will never be the same without her, but the warmth she brought to those gatherings will live on in our memories forever.
