Obituary

Ruth Doris Davis Lewis, aged 83 and full of grace, made her triumphant transition into eternal rest, peacefully at home on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Born on August 26, 1941, in Rowan County, NC, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frank Davis and the late Janie Bell McDuffie Davis.

Ruth was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1959. She later earned associate degrees from Salisbury Business College and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. She dedicated her professional life to caring for others, retiring from Genesis Nursing Home as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Even in retirement, Ruth continued to serve, offering companionship, support, and transportation to seniors in her community — always giving, always loving.

She was a faithful and active member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she served joyfully on the Pastor's Aid and Missionary Ministries, and remained a dedicated student of Sunday School.

Ruth found fulfillment in life's simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved traveling, attending church, watching TV game shows, and laughing along with her favorite Tyler Perry movies and plays. She also cherished her time at the Rufty-Homes Senior Center, where she eagerly participated in fun-filled activities and built lasting friendships.

A devoted mother, gentle grandmother, and proud great-grandmother, Ruth's love for her family was boundless and unconditional. She poured herself into the lives of those she loved, nurturing them with a quiet strength, a listening ear, and a heart full of thoughtfulness . Affectionately known as "Grandma Ruth," she was the steady heartwarming presence that anchored her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she lovingly called her "little people" brought her immense joy.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Frank Davis and Janie Bell McDuffie Davis; her dear brothers, Joe Eddie Davis Sr. and John Frank Davis; her beloved sister, Jennie Mae Davis Quattlebaum; and her precious grandson, Antonio Lewis.

Left to carry on her light and legacy are her devoted son, Anthony Lewis (Crystal), of Salisbury, NC; her beloved grandchildren: Antjuan Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Chandler Turner, Aubrey Turner, and Carrington Turner; and her three cherished great-grandchildren: Trenton Turner, Carsyn Turner, and Lohgan Burch. She is also lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and her Shady Grove Baptist Church family.

Ruth Davis Lewis lived as a vessel of God's love. Her life was a beautiful testimony of faith, family, and selfless service — and now, she wears her heavenly crown proudly in glory. Though her physical presence will be missed beyond measure, the light she shared continues to shine in the lives of all she touched. "Well done, thy good and faithful servant".
