Thomas "Doll" Jarvis Mitchell 73, of East Spencer was born to the late Bobby Smith and Mae Bell Mitchell Smith on November 2, 1947 in Rowan County and made his final transition on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Atrium Northeast Medical Center in Concord, NC. A 1966 graduate of Dunbar High School, a 1970 graduate of NC A&T University, and a lifelong member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was a retired Sergeant from the NC Department of Corrections and he served in U.S. Army. He was also Alderman for the Town of East Spencer and served on the Rowan County School Board. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Marlon Dion Mitchell, siblings; Ronald Joe Mitchell Smith and Annie Faye Mitchell Henderson. He leaves cherished memories to his wife; Leanette Gray Mitchell of the home, brothers; Haywood "Reggie" Barber, Andrew Mitchell, Sr. (Geraldine), sisters; Barbara "Nancy" Mitchell, Billie Patterson Wilson, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Service is Tuesday, August 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, East Spencer; burial will be Wednesday August 4, at 9:00 a.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery. Public viewing is Monday at Rowan Funeral Services 10:00 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. Rowan Funeral Services is assisting the Mitchell family.
