Tonya Denise Gillispie, age 43, of Salisbury passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2022, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Born on June 6, 1979, in Rowan County, was the daughter of Sylvia Gillispie and Michael Hopkins. Tonya was a 1998 graduate of North Rowan High School. She was last employed at the Brian Center. Tonya was also a part of the Melanted Sisters Club. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Thelma Gillispie; maternal grandfather, Charles Gillispie Sr; paternal grandfather, Thomas Hopkins; and cousin, Katrion Cowan. Those left to Cherish her memories include her daughter, Da Nasza Lovell; mother, Sylvia Gillispie; father, Micheal Hopkins, of Cleveland; brothers, Keith Gillispie and Micheal Alexander, Jr. all of Salisbury; special friend, Tiwiane Ellis; and she also leaves behind a host of cousins and other relatives and friends. Arrangements: Funeral Services will be Saturday, Oct. 1, 11 a.m. at Rowan Funeral Services Chapel, burial will follow in Byers Cemetery.
