It is with heavy hearts, yet with unwavering faith, that we announce the passing of our beloved Virginia C. Henman. She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on February 17, 2026, at the remarkable age of 104. Virginia, born on September 18, 1921, in Norfolk, VA, was a true daughter of Zion, a woman whose life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to God and her boundless love for her family. She was the cherished daughter of Isaac Allen and Sarah McCalla Allen

Educated in the New York City Public Schools, Virginia embarked on a career of service, working as an administrator for the City of New York in various departments, including Model Cities and the Health Department. Her dedication and work ethic were evident to all who knew her.

In June of 1982, Virginia retired and made Salisbury, NC, her new home. It was here that she found her spiritual family at First Calvary Baptist Church. Affectionately known as  "Mother Henman"  within the church community, she was a pillar of strength and a beacon of light. She served faithfully as Church Clerk and Missionary Unit 135 Treasurer. Her commitment extended to supporting the Sunday School, Missionary Union 1, Kitchen Committee,and BTU.

Virginia was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Clayton C. Henman Sr., and a loving mother to her sons, Clayton C. Henman Jr. and George S. Henman. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Gary, Derek, Damek, Stephanie, and Pamela; her great-grandchildren: Asha, Kayla, Bryson, Reign, Lamont, Romare and Zhuri; her great-great-grandchildren:
Desmond, Sienna, and Idris.
Her life was a living sermon, a daily demonstration of faith, love, and service. She touched countless lives with her kindness, her wisdom, and her unwavering belief in the power of prayer. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. We find solace in knowing that she is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Funeral Services: Monday March 2, 11:30 a.m, First Calvary Baptist Church, family will receive friends at the church 11:00 a.m. -11:30a.m. burial will follow in the Salisbury National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
