Walter Herman Norman SALISBURY - Walter Herman Norman 91, of Salisbury was born to the late Pete and Lackey Everhart Norman in Elberton, GA on August 8, 1929 made his eternal home in paradise beside his beloved wife of 51 years Viola on Sunday November 1, 2020 at Trellis Support Care in Winston-Salem. He attended school in Alberton County and joined the US Army during the Korean War. When he returned home from the Army, he became a brick mason. He owned his company Norman and Sons Brick Masonry Co. where they built several homes and businesses throughout Salisbury. Throughout his career he hired and taught many the masonry trade and they are brick masons and contractors today. He was affectionately known as "Foots" he became a Jehovah Witness at the age of 84, he loved to fish, gardening, cooking, watching western, world news, the evening paper. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. He was a quiet gentle man, much of the family called him the "wise owl" he would open his door for anyone and give to anyone that faced a crisis. He loved to sit under the tree and drank his Pepsi. He was a devoted father to four sons; John (Carolyn) Vann of Charlotte, Alan Vann, Walter "Scooter" Norman both of Salisbury, Joel (Yvette) Norman, of Mocksville, brothers; Felma Norman, John Everhart, sisters; Elizabeth Everhart, Onnie Angel, 17 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, nieces, nephews, host of other relatives and friends. Visitation: Public viewing will be Saturday at Rowan Funeral Services 12 noon - 5:00 p.m. Service: Burial will be November 16, at 1:00 P.M. Salisbury National Cemetery. Rowan Funeral Services is serving the Norman/Vann family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House or Trellis Support Care.
