Mary Lovell Obituary

Mary B. Lovell was born on August 21, 1940, to the late Herman and Mary Lovell. Mary peacefully entered into her eternal resting place on Sunday, February 4, 2024, after a brief illness. Mary affectionally known as Beatrice, to family and friends. Mary was born and raised in Cleveland, North Carolina. Mary attended and graduated in 1958 from RA Clement High School in Cleveland, NC. Mary attended Livingston College and North Carolina Central. After some college experience she relocated to Washington, DC in 1963. In September of 1964, Mary had her firstborn Norma Deneen Jones. After the birth of her first child Mary began her employment with the United States Postal Service. Mary was a faithful employee for the Postal Service. Mary enjoyed her years of service as a mail clerk assorting mail. In 1967, Mary had another child Lenardo” BoneBone” Lovell was born but unfortunately after 6 months of life he transitioned due to pneumonia. Mary then added another addition to her life by having her baby boy Kirk Thomas Lovell, who was truly a momma’s boy. Mary continued working for the postal service before her finding a spirited life on Irving Street where she loved and adored. It was on Irving Street where Mary added some additional sisters and brother in Sheila E. Lucas and Eugene Smith who became inseparable. .

Mary decided that the Postal Services was enough in 1980. Mary returned to Cleveland, North Carolina in 1983 due to the transition of her mother. After Mary relocated to North Carolina she then became a Nursing Assistant for Autumn Care where she faithfully served all her patients with love and care. Mary continued to work as a nursing assistant and retired in 2006. After her retirement Mary enjoyed sitting home watching her favorite television shows such as Morning Joe, watching news channels and talking with her sister Doris and chilling while cooking anything Kirk wanted to eat. Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents Herman and Mary Lovell, her sister Betty Lou Lovell and brothers Robert and Herman Lovell.

Mary leaves to cherish her memories her children Norma Jones of Greenbelt, Maryland, Kirk Lovell of Statesville, North Carolina, her siblings Doris Noble and Jerry Lovell (Magdalene) of Cleveland, North Carolina. Her grandchildren Darin (Michelle), of Washington,DC, Fatima of Greenbelt, MD, Elijah (Rachelle) of Rockville, Md.,
David Jackson of Cary North Carolina, Kirk Lovell, Jr. and KeionLovell of Statesville, North Carolina, Montrell and Aniya of Statesville, North Carolina along with 9 great-grandchildren nieces andnephews Diedre Cuthbertson, Angela Noble, William Noble,Michael Nobel, Patrick Lovell, Wayne Lovell, David Lovell, CaseyLovell, Robert Lovell Jr., and Shawn Lovell. Her bonuses Angela
Lucas, Mary Lucas, Charlene Jones (Gareth), Tameka Davis (Jimmy)and Henry Johnson with her special love nephew/God-sonBishop “Bobby” Robert H. Alston, Jr. (Gloria) and a host of great-nieces.

Funeral Services Saturday February 17,at 11:00 at Moore's Chapel A.M.E. Zion, Cleveland, NC burial will follow in the church cemetery, Family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m prior to service. Public viewing will be Friday 11:00 - 5:00 p.m.
