Samuel Golden, Jr Obituary

Mr. Samuel Edward Golden Jr. “JUNE” or “JUNE BUG” was a loving partner, father, grandfather and a great grandfather, brother, friend, uncle, brother, in-law. Samuel passed away on January 14th 2024 at the age of 69.  

Samuel was born to Samuel Edward Golden Sr. and Shirley Golden in Jamaica Queens, NY on January 19th 1954. He graduated from High School in Jamaica Queens, NY and later on enlisted in the US Army.

Later in life Samuel graduated from Rowan Cabarrus Community College from the auto mechanic program. Mr. Samuel also graduated from the University of Phoenix receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He worked for Boral Bricks for 15 years and he retired from foodlion warehouse after 10 years. 

He is survived by his loving long time partner of 49 years, Sandra Jenkins. Mr. Samuel Golden Jr leave behind a son Dwayne Jones (Latosha) of Salisbury, and Daughter of home Deanna Harris, and Sammie Golden (Ajana) of Greenville, SC. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. Samuel Edward Golden Sr and Shirley Mae Golden, his sister Kim Golden, brother Keith Golden, and granddaughter Jaidence Golden. 

Samuel leave behind two granddaughters De’Rya Jenkins and Ja’Ciyah Cowan. Seven grandsons, Jayden Harris, Justin Anderson, Jerome Ingram, Robert Lee Jr., Jamiar Houston, Jaziar Houston, Jayden Figueroa. He leaves behind three great grandchildren Kyden Blackwell, Kyrie Jenkins, Zacharia Badger.

Samuel is survived by his two sisters of Jamaica Queens, NY Karen (Donald Sr) McGee, Sandra Golden (Alonzo), a host of nieces and nephews.

 Samuel had been an avid runner for years with the Salisbury Running Club even completing the Charlotte Observer Marathon (26.2 miles). He loved music, he loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. His favorite genre was Jazz, belonging to several music groups and playing in local venues. He played the Alto and Soprano Saxophone and even the keyboard. 

Samuel loved volunteering his service at the Salisbury Veterans Home, where he met CSM Roy Wilkins and  Staff Sergeant Mr. Rocky Wilson they took him under their wing to educate him more on the veteran services and the Veteran games. As competitive as Mr. Golden was he found out that he could still compete with his wheelchair and was able to participate in the 2023 National Veteran Wheelchair games in Indiana. Prior to his transition he was training for 2024 wheelchair games and was excited about bowling and playing basketball. 

Samuel enjoyed spending his time with his grand children and great grandchildren introducing them to new things, especially music. He will be greatly missed by all whom came in contact with him, long term friends, recently met, and family. 

To his care team at the Salisbury VA from nurses to therapist, Dr. Thomas Shine thank you, we appreciate you all.

Funeral Services January 27, at 2:00 p.m. Rowan Funeral Services Chapel burial will be in Salisbury National Cemetery on January 31, 2:00 p.m. Family will recieve 30 minutes prior to service,
