SALISBURY – Deacon Samuel “Sam” Murphy 89, of Salisbury was born to the late Logan Murphy and Rebecca Matthews on August 8, 1933 in Allendale, SC transition his Earthly Life to his Heavenly Home on Monday July 24, 2023 at Trinity Oaks after a brief illness.
Mr. Murphy attended Public Schools in South Carolina, Owner/Operator of his own Trucking Company. He was a faithful member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church were he was ordained as a Deacon 20 plus years and sang on the Men’s Chorus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Willie James Matthews, Bernice Boyton, Claretha Fields, Bessie Mae Johnson, Burnell Thompson and son George Williams. He leaves memories to his wife Patricia Kelley-Murphy of the home, son; Eric “ Ricky” Murphy, daughter; Lucille Longworth, sister; Mary Helen Fredrickson, bonus children; Marshall, Charles, Vincent, Joseph, Barbara , Demita, fourteen grandchildren , eight great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services Saturday July 29, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church and burial will follow in City Memorial . Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Public viewing wil be Friday 11:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
