Obituary

Eirka Elaine House Melton,71, of Salisbury was born to the late James Henry House and Iona Claybrook House on November 20, 1949 and departed her life at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House on November 10, 2021. She was a 1968 graduate of Prince high school and attended Rowan Cabarrus College. She retired from W.G Hefner (Bill) Medical Center, where she spent her time there as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Eirka attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church as a lifetime member, where she served on the Usher Board, Culinary Ministry Board, Choir, and Sunday School. She leaves cherished memories with her son; Charles Melton, stepson; Troy Cornyn, daughters; Laura Melton and Bridgett Melton, stepdaughter; Torre Coryn, brothers; Jimmie House, Richard(Gail) House, Bobby(Jennifer) House, sisters; Lydia Faust, Mary Sifford, Genova Payne, Louise Clodfelter, special aunt, Anthony Barber, Beverly (Sedric) Kerr, grandchildren; Destini Johnson, Jerizah Melton, Elijah Mitchell, Jamayah Wingate-Melton, L.P. Stewart, Ayden Melton, step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.  Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 20, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church; burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Public viewing will be Friday, November 19, from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Rowan Funeral Services is assisting the Melton/Charlton family.
