Obituary

Artea Evelyn Wiley, 86 was born to the late Charles N. Drafton and Lucille Davie Drafton in Fort¬†Mill, South Carolina on November 22, 1934 and passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. The Drafton family relocated to East Spencer, North Carolina in 1949 where Evelyn attended Dunbar High School. In 1961 she married Samuel Wiley; they relocated to Bakersfield, CA, where she later completed her education in Bakersfield, California becoming a Registered Nurse; after retiring in Bakersfield, she and Sam relocated back to East Spencer, North Carolina. Evelyn was a faithful member of Southern City A.M.E. Zion Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the kitchen committee. She was preceded in death by her parents; son; Johnny Ray Drafton, and brother; Charles N. Drafton. She leaves cherished memories of 60 years to her husband; Samuel Wiley of the home, brother; Joshua Franklin Drafton (Rachel Christine) of Augusta, Georgia, brother-in-law; Dr. Jerry Wiley (Iris), of Raleigh, North Carolina, sister in-law; Elva Chalk, of Hampton, Virginia, nephews, niece , a host of other relatives, and friends. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Southern City A.M.E. Zion; burial at Salisbury National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Public viewing Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; family visitation: 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Rowan Funeral Services is assisting the Wiley family.
