Benny Leroy Fleming, 83, was born June 16, 1938, in Rowan County, NC, to the late Ms. Eulalia Zelma Fleming. He departed this life on Monday, August 23, 2021, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
Benny attended Rowan County Schools and graduated from RA Clement High School in 1957. Once completing high school, Benny went to North Carolina A&T State University and completed a 2-year Electronics program in 1959.
Benny accepted God at an early age, joining Mt Vernon Presbyterian Church in 1942, where he has served in many capacities, and has remained a lifelong member. Benny had 2 children, one son, Steven Brotherton, and one daughter Karen Fleming Blackwell. Karen Fleming Blackwell, the mother of his 4 grandchildren, preceded him in death on 2/26/2008.
Benny leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Steven Brotherton (Brenda) of Salisbury, 4 grandchildren, Nia Ymann Blackwell of Salisbury, NC, Edward Dwayne Blackwell, currently serving in the US Army stationed at Fort Hood TX, Karintyn Triniti Blackwell of Cleveland, NC, and Chandler Isaiah Rucker of Cleveland, NC; Aunts, Martha Fleming of Woodleaf, NC, and Valeria Fleming of Winston Salem, NC, and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
Arrangements: The Family Visitation will be at Rowan Funeral Services, Incorporated at 1709 North Long Street in Salisbury, NC at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 9, 2021. The visitation will be immediately followed by the Memorial Service at 12:00 noon at Rowan Funeral Service, Incorporated.
Masks will be required due to COVID requirements. The services will also be streamed on the Rowan Funeral Services, Incorporated Facebook Live Page. Interment will be in the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 435 Carson Road, Cleveland, NC 27013, following the memorial.
